About Split | A creative-led design studio based in the north of England

None of us is a single thing. We all exist between any number of extremes. As both individuals and communities we embody conflicts, complexities and contradictions. Our identities flex depending on the context or time. We demand both romance and pragmatic function; we want simplicity and clarity, but not at the expense of the messy truth.

From our home in our co-working space, Salts Works, based in Saltaire in the north of England, Split work across multiple disciplines for clients and on self-initiated projects. We create brands, album artwork, websites, books, exhibitions, installations, fonts and (often very large) prints. By working collaboratively with clients and communities, we strive to create considered work that reflects the complexities of each individual brief, problem or subject matter.

Our work has been recognised by D&AD, It’s Nice That, Roses Design Awards, The Independent Music Awards, Art Vinyl Awards, Awwwards, The Independent and a range of other press. We (accidentally) hold a Guinness World Record.
